| I personally plan on getting it the day it comes out, since it will be free for a year. (Free to install for a year, meaning that if you install it within the year, it will last forever)
Do you guys plan on getting it? I would dualboot Linux, but my laptop has really bad compatibility with it.

| I have used it for quite a while, and I think it is the best thing MS does since XP. | |

Yeah, I think they did a really great job with it. They just need to iron out the bugs. It runs really bad on my laptop, so hopefully they will make it more efficient in the final builds. And to be honest, 8 wasn't bad either. It was just out of place. It belonged on a tablet, not a PC. |

| I didn't say it was bad. I said it was worse than XP. XP is the best MS has ever done. | |

Back in the day, XP was the very best. But, now there is newer operating systems, and they improve on XP. They make the flaws in XP a million times more obvious, and make it seem bad in comparison to the new operating systems. I loved XP. I used it until I got a RAM upgrade in my laptop, and now I use Windows 7. |

Vista was really nice. It's just that when it was released, none of the OEMS bothered to check whether their machines could run Vista. (Spoiler, most of them didn't meet minimum requirements) My laptop ran Vista fine. The only reason it got a bad reputation was because people would buy their new PC's with 512MB of RAM, and think it was more than enough for Vista. In reality, it wasn't close. With the proper resources, Vista runs great. Albeit, not as great as 7, but pretty dang good if you ask me. And again, 8.1 isn't really trash either. It's better than 8. Only problem was that it's design was meant for tablets. Not PC's. |

| I had Windows 7 on my old PC, too bad the damn thing broke. Now I have a very cheap HP laptop that came with Windows 8 but I upgraded to 8.1.
I've never used XP, because back then, before 2011, I was so tech stupid that I didn't know what google was or how to use it.
I do wish I could dual boot. Sadly, I tried. It failed. Had to completely restore my Laptop to fix the issues. In the future when I buy/build my PC, I plan on getting the latest or best Windows OS out there. I personally like Windows only because its the only OS I've used.

Sorry to hear about your dual booting problems. Maybe we should open a topic about that? I'm sure I could help you with it. After all, I have re-installed Windows on my laptop over 100 times. I'm sure I could help solve your problem. |

| Not only that, Vista had tons of problems... like setting ZIP files to open with IE... and the pc would go crazy. | |

Don't forget about memory leaking issues. And if it wasn't a memory leak, it was Vista being a memory hog. |

| I'm just wondering, besides the looks, what made people really hate Windows 8? | |

| Mostly for no reason. W8 wasn't that bad, but kind of a backstab on loyal MS PC users, in terms of interface. 8.1 made it much worse though. | |

| Yeah, stability wise there was nothing wrong with Windows 8. |

I don't see how. If anything, it improved on it with splitscreen apps and a semi working start button. |

| Semi-working is not an improvement. Also, 8.1 has more problems with compatibility. And honestly, I prefer 8's interface even on PC. | |

I mean, I had a few drivers issues, but it was an easy fix. I just had to download the new drivers made for Windows 8, and all my crap worked fine. |

| I just don't like the new start menu. I also don't care for the Windows 8 mode for using their apps. I prefer the desktop mode of using apps.
I also found this cool download that lets you have the windows 7 start menu on desktop. If I find the link again, I'll post it.

True. I never used them though. I just sucked it up and learned how to use the new interface... Which was too easy. I kinda found it funny that people were whining so bad about the start menu being "gone", when it was just moved and redesigned. People are so lazy these days, never wanting to learn. |
