| Yes, but books are better. So, you're online. Have you completed the setup of your PC? | |

| It would only take 2-3 days of full dedication to learn HTML however HTML alone is pretty much useless. It's more or less the "visual" of the web page. You're gonna need another scripting language to pair with it to add functionality.
What programming language you plan on learning, Dan? As by now I'm sure you know who I am. (Hax0rPr0). I'm willing to help you or anyone with anything you need when it comes to programming. Considering the beginning to most languages are the same.(loops, functions and decision making etc...) The problem with videos is that you can follow the video but when it comes down to making your own programs you wont know how to use the functions to your advantage. Like you said about the calculator, sure you know how to make a calculator. You can even memorize how to type it out but when it comes down to using the individual functions on their own you wont understand.
That's where books/reading materials are better, you'll learn what the function does and how to use it to your advantage.
On the off chance that this post doesn't get deleted or this account, shoot me a PM. I'll gladly help out. I know what it takes to get people to understand "the basics" of programming in an easy way. I learned on my own and it took about 2-3 years to fully grasp the concept of how it works. It all seems so overwhelming at first.

| C is good to start. Many languages derive from it. It can be complicated, but it is most likely the best IMO. And it can be very simple. | |

| C or C++ would be a great beginner language. Considering its complicated and it gets straight to the point of good programming techniques. | |

| Yes it is, It's overwhelming at first. I wouldn't consider C/C++ easy. It's a great start because it's complicated. it cuts to the chase right away.
Anyone can wiz through and follow tutorials but to truly understand is completely different.

I don't really like following tutorials. As I said, the important is learning how the language works, not what codes can be used for what. If you learn how it works, you will be able to get the most out of every function. I have a couple of books of C. One of them is what I currently use, with a function list (cuz its impossible to remember them all lol), and the other only has theory (explaining the language itself, without code examples).

Well, some admins ban people who were previously banned because they don't trust them or something.
