Its official (like we didn't already know); the division is delayed until 2016. | |

| Yeah but most of the time games get delayed because of negative feed back from the community | |

| lol wut?
Most delayed games actually have positive feedback before release.
Examples: Watchdogs, Unity, Arkham Knight, MGS V.
Most games tbh are delayed because of:
A: Devs underestimating how long it takes to make bigger, next gen games.
B: Publishers trying to force devs to get games out early. (AK and The Division were supposed to release 2014 - there was no way that was every going to happen as the games were massively unfinished when they were announced at E3. The Division had barely even started development when it was announced at E3) This is because of publishers trying to get stuff out quickly and reap revenue from people buying.
C: Issues arising towards the end of development are more common because games are more complex these days. | |

| I hate to disagree with you but how do you think positive feedback is even created. Because players don't like what they see. Their positive feedback comes from the negative aspects of the game that is sought out on "what could be better" or "How it could be done better" | |

| Not quite as simple as that:
EA, Activision and to some extent Ubisoft (read below) are very hard-arsed and never listen to players. They're mostly concerned with making the most money. Lots of stuff they do has microtransactions, costly DLC and things which punish players for various reasons + the games are bad and don't feature things the community enjoy. I was on Ubisoft forums regularly last year and I saw loads of feedback about tons of their games...they didn't listen to any of it. WD wasn't as good as it should have been and AC unity wasn't great. It ended up being a bad year for ubisoft. Now, they're listening. That's kinda the problem with ubisoft. They go through a cycle of listening to players, then completely going in a different direction which nobody likes. Its good they're willing to experiment and be ambitious, but you need to do that WITH player feedback and recommendations or it just doesn't pan out.
----------------------
That said, Some developers do well from player feedback. A lot of people complained about the Lip Sync issues, Combo breakers and glitches in Arkham Asylum. They made a point out of brushing up the combat system, ironing out glitches and having perfect lip sync for Arkham city. Thats an example of a the developer taking player feedback, infusing it into their own ideas and producing a masterpiece as a result.
Destiny's House of wolves expansion is another example. They actually listened to players, did what they wanted whilst being ambitious themselves. The end result: even the long time haters of the game stopped talking and started playing and destiny is finally a fun and refreshing game to play. Far from perfect, but a major step forward and a hell of a game at long last.
On another note, i personally think that success can also jinx a studio's future releases. By this i mean that if a studio has a string of really successful games (for example, Rockstar's GTA), they will get a ton of compliments but no criticism. Because of that, Devs such as RStar who do actually listen to fans won't know how to push the boat out a bit and experiment successfully in future. I personally believe some of RStar's future games will be criticised heavily for either lacking ambition or going in the wrong direction for this reason.
^Just my thoughts on the matter of how devs operate these days. | |
