I'll be willing to help as far as you want to take it. I've been working with various languages for 3 years or better(on and off). The problem I had was understand HOW to use it. Sure I knew what a for loop was, if statement, while loop, passing arguments through functions and much more, but when it came down to using it in a program, I wasn't sure where to use it at.

I know how I learned and I could pass that on to you or anyone else interested in learning a language.


Even if what you're hoping to happen doesn't work out, there's a lot of things you can do with programming.

Learning to program is basically learning how the programming language works. I don't know on my head a lot of functions in C. But I do know how the language works. That is what matters.

@gnm, essentially. But you should know the basic necessities though. I haven't worked in console or win32 API in damn near 4 months but I can rip off the basic outline of a working program from the top of my head. Console, a simple input/output program and Win32 api a simple window with a menu-bar resource file.

I'm starting to lean java now.

We're just learning about Busses, Cache and other hardware and peripherals then straight onto java.

Keep in mind they're two different things.

Use Alice 3.0 or MIT app inventor 2 or you can use game maker. Then you can kind of get a feeling. Haha

I think everyone should start with C. C++, Java, JavaScript, etc. their syntax is derived from C. Also C is one of the fastest high-level languages.

And Java. But he has asked me to learn javascript as well in my spare time; which i will.

I'm starting out with C then will be working my way to learning Java. We could get into Javascript, depending how much time we have left in the year so this will be interesting.
