Guns are very strongly regulated here and in europe and we hardly ever - never get anything like that.

Well at least it wasn't a mass murder shooting.

But we are defiant Americans, guns will never be outlawed. If it did, half of us would get in trouble for having guns.

Oh god, us Carolinians would be in deep shit if guns were outlawed. Most of the guns in New York are supplied from the Carolinas. Plus we have very poor gun laws and the laws arent enforced well here. Especially in South Carolina. Which means guns are easy to get and use here.

The problem is, people are going to get guns whether or not if they are banned. Just like Prohibition, people are going to sneak it and there will be more crimes because more of the wrong people will get a hold of the guns.

You Europeans don't understand that American people will get whatever they want one way or another, regardless if it is prohibited :P We have so many illegal drugs here and how many get arrested for being in possession of them? Oh and we have a drinking age limit.. so how many people go out and get drunk whom are under the age?

My point is America can ban anything they want but people will still find a way to get a hold of it.

Don't be silly, Of course police have guns here, they probably have a better arsenal compared to the US police. And why would a person use a gun to defend himself from the police? Police don't touch you unless they have a reason to.

Also for some reason alot of you assume that when we say something about "Europe", you assume every SINGLE country has the same rules as everyone else.

Derp, Wrong, Best example is; In the Netherlands you can drink at 16 (while in other EU countries is 18) and You can smoke pot there.

If the cops have guns then it shouldn't be hard to get guns in the uk or wherever place that has guns banned in Europe. I'm sure there are dirty cops/gun providers are willing to make a couple of bucks selling guns to civies over there.

You can have a gun but its 20000% more difficult to get a permit for one. Again it varies from country to country. Hunting rifles are usually allowed.

If cought with a gun without a permit you can face jail time. Or if you're lucky, you get a big ass fine.

Big, 3 years + over here.

Your allowed guns depending on profession. Farmers are allowed hunting rifles and shotguns. You can get permits for guns too. My friend has some air rifles and a pistol.

But, all of those weapons are toned down versions.

You will never get a gun anything like as powerful as its American/army equivalent. Fact.

And the laws are tight.

In the UK, its been on the news for like the past year that a special forces SAS sniper was awarded a glock pistol as a gift from the Israeli army for covering them in combat. Long story short, he accidentally brought the pistol home in his kit bag and he was facing dishonorable discharge, fines and a 5 year prison sentence.

AND HE IS QUALIFIED!!!!!

But everybody was so outraged by it they scrapped all charges.

idk. They don't care what type. If you have a 'firearm' that isn't legally allowed off army premises or don't have a permit, your screwed.

The police do have guns, but theyr in secure lockups and are monitored 24/7 to make sure no-one gets inside. Same for the army.

In my lifetime (15 years), the only weapons that have been stolen from any official services is some hand grenades and c4 from an army train a few years ago. But they found that pretty quickly.

And its hard for criminals to get weapons here.

Gun battles with police and gun crime is so rare across the country its on national news when it happened.

And the only time armed police were called this year is during a shootout with a car in Bristol (its on the other side of the country and we know about it here) and when some terrorists killed a soldier with a samurai sword in London.(I think)

Last year, the only gun crime was when a guy lured 2 police officers to his house, threw a hand grenade and fired s pistol to kill both of them. But they got him pretty quick after the murders.
